This is not just any green smoothie, it is a refreshing, tropical mix of pineapple and coconut and a good dose of greens that are sure to make you feel like you are on a tropical island. The best part, it tastes so good you won't even notice it's healthy.
Let't talk pineapples.....
Pineapple contains a powerful proteolytic enzyme called bromelain which helps to breakdown complex proteins making it a useful remedy for inflammatory conditions such as osteo-arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and any joint pain.
It is a rich source of Vitamin C, beta carotene and minerals making it a strong immuno-stimulant, increasing the activity of white blood cells. Pineapple supports the body with healthy collagen production for all structures including the blood, skin, organs and bones. It may also act as a preventative in some cancers due to its' flavonoids, antioxidants and nutrient content. It is helpful with coughs and catarrh and improves the healing time and prevention of colds.
Pineapples are high in Manganese and Thiamine which help with energy production. Manganese is a cofactor required for the enzymatic reactions needed for energy in the mitochondria of the cell. Thiamine (Vitamin B1) like all B vitamins, also play a key role in energy, stress management, healthy nervous system and cardiovascular health.
Being high in both soluble fibre and insoluble fibre it may be protective to the digestive tract, helping to normalise the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome such as constipation, diarrhoea, pain and inflammation.
Including pineapple in an Alkaline diet will boost your health, support healing and repair your body. It makes a great addition to both sweet and savoury dishes and can be served hot or cold. When picking a pineapple, look for a golden colour and a sweet fragrant fruit.

Hi Sharon, this is absolutely delicious with fresh pineapple. You can make it with canned if fresh is not available, however be careful with additives, preservatives and colours along with added juices if the pineapple is in syrup rather than juice. Alternatively, buy fresh pineapple in season, chop it up into chunks and freeze it so you have it available :)
Great recipe! If you don’t have fresh pineapple or coconut can you use canned pineapple and cn water?
